James Giossi
Legendary Weekend at Cedar Lake Speedway
This weekend James Giossi wrote his name in the history books by winning Friday nights feature event. Cedar Lake Speedway decided to run the show with group hot laps / qualifying instead of running heats. This proved beneficial for James as he qualified .003 seconds behind Pat Doar who had the quickest time of the night on Friday and James set quick time on Saturday. Friday nights feature was set to be a good one with both number 11's starting on the front row. The green flag dropped and we saw a battle between Doar and Giossi early. James settled into second as he was running the top and Doar was working through the ruts on the bottom. Midway through the feature event the white and orange 11 of Giossi started to close the gap and reel in leader, Doar. James stalked Pat Doar in the closing 10 laps waiting to make his move. Coming out of turn four, Giossi was able to power by the leader which proved crucial to his victory. After a caution on the white flag lap, Giossi was able to hold off the field for a green, white , checker victory. "It was a technical track tonight and I really had to hit my marks. I'm just glad we could pull off the win" said Giossi after Friday nights feature event.
Saturday was shaping up to be another great run for James as he had the quickest time of the night during qualifying action. His time would put him on the pole for the feature. There were a few new drivers who showed up on Saturday making the field of late models even deeper. The feature event started off with James Giossi and John Kaanta battling early. At about the 5 lap mark, Giossi sent the car into turn 3 just a little too hot causing him to spin. Bringing out the yellow, James was sent to the tail of the field. After battling through the track conditions and the other cars, Giossi finished with a solid 7th place run.
Overall it was a great weekend for team 11 and Nitro Nation. You can catch James back on the track this Friday night at Red Cedar Speedway in Menomonie, WI for their first race of the season and first race since 2019.
