First Responders and DIRTCar Sportsman Series Part of Action-Packed Friday at Can-Am

After Mother Nature spoiled the party one week ago the Can-Am Speedway will once again honor our local First Responders. Fans can see many vehicles from local police, ambulance and fire departments and meet the men and women who are there for us in a time of emergency.

The night will feature all six divisions plus the DIRTCar Sportsman North Regional Series feature invaders from other tracks plus our own track regulars in the Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTCar Sportsman division.

The season has once again seen familiar names at the top of the leaderboard as track championships are on the line with only a few weeks remaining.

Tim Fuller is once again in control of the Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTCar 358 Modified division. After being inducted into the Northeast Modified Hall of Fame, Fuller has claimed two wins on the Super DIRTCar Series and is in search of his third straight track championship with Billy Dunn and Jordan McCreadie still within striking distance.

Much like a year ago Tyler Corcoran and Mike Fowler are in a tight battle for the track championship in the Bob Johnson Auto Group DIRTCar Sportsman division. But Gavin Eisle is off his second win of the season and sits 26 points behind in third, well within reach of the top spot.

Veteran Pete Stefanski has competed and won at several different tracks in his career and is in search of his first ever FABCO DIRTCar Pro Stock championship. Title rival Dakota Sharp has won all three times he has shown up this year sits second in points, only 26 points behind the leader with Sid Harmer Jr. in third

Who can beat Josh Verne Jr. in the Panther Frameworx 602 Crate Sprint Car division? Well so far nobody has beaten the Theresa New York native in any feature event contested at Can Am. Verne has won all five events in 2023 and leads Tucker Donath by 40 points with rookie Andrew Hennessy completing the top 3 in the standings.

Francis White has been consistent with top three finishes in every event this season, including three trips to victory lane. Steve Smith is having a great season and sits second in the title chase, 64 points behind while Damien Bechler completes the top three in the title fight.

Dylan Moore finally put his name in the win column two weeks again winning the Donath Motorworx Limited Sportsman feature event at Can Am. Keegan Nier, his closest rival all season, has been the driver to beat as Nier has visited victory lane on three occasions this year and will be in search on number four on Friday night.

Along with First responders and a full card of racing, some of the top mechanics will strap behind the wheel of DIRTCar Sportsman entries and try their hand at driving following the evenings events.

Spectator gates open at 5pm with National Anthems by Miss Thousand Islands and Miss Adirondak shortly before the first green flag of the night, which is set to drop at 7pm.
