2023 Track Champions to be Crowned at Can-Am Friday Night

Mother nature has really taken over and dominated the last few weeks at the
Can Am Speedway. However this weekend is looking sunny and clear in the long range forecast, which will feature six divisions of racing and championships to be decided.

The Whitesboro Plow Shop DIRTCar 358 Modified division sees Tim Fuller in control of the top spot and searching for a third straight track title. Behind him Billy Dunn, who is a six time champion, sits just 26 points back with Jordan McCreadie still in the hunt. McCreadie currently sits third in the title chase just 32 markers behind Fuller. We do know the track title will remain in Watertown New York regardless of who wins it all Friday night.

Much like last year three time and defending track champion Tyler Corcoran leads the way with Mike Fowler, last season’s runner up, currently second in track points. However Gavin Eisle has his name in the mix as well sitting 26 points behind the top two drivers. Both Fowler and Eisle are still looking for their first track championship.

The FABCO DIRTCar Pro stock division sees veteran Pete Stefanski on top by 22 points, over Dakota Sharp, who has wins in all four events he has competed in this season. Stefanski has done it all in Pro Stock racing and would love to add a Can Am crown to his resume. Sharp would like to join his father Kyle as a Can Am champion as well. Kyle won the Pure Stock championship in 1999.

Josh Verne Jr. has owned the Panther Frameworx 602 Crate Sprint Car division in 2023. Verne won the opening 5 events of the season before Tiger Chapman ended the streak on August 11th, our last time in action at Can Am. Verne sits 46 points ahead of Tucker Donath heading into the weekend.

Francis White has combined winning races with consistent finishes to put him well ahead of the rest of the field in the Sundance Leisure Thundercar division. White holds a 72 point lead over Steve Smith and will be crowned the 2023 champion on Friday night. Smith has had a strong year and would love to cap off a solid season with a feature win.

Keegan Nier has left hisa mark on the Donath Motorworx Limited Sportsman division in 2023. The Carthage New York driver has posted 4 wins in 2023, with 3 wins in a 4 week span. Other drivers like Brady Howard, Jake Granacker and Dylan Moore have all graced victory lane this year and will look to add one more before season’s end.

This weekend with everything happening for track titles, the drivers still want to thank the fans one more time, as a driver autograph session will take place on the frontstretch at intermission. This is an opportunity to meet your favorite driver, get an autograph and get a picture with them also.

Gates will open at 5pm Friday night with representatives from Miss Thousand Islands and Miss Adirondack taking you through opening ceremonies and National Anthems, with the first green flag dropping at 7pm.
