Inside Line Promotions – CALISTOGA, Calif. (Sept. 17, 2019) – Kraig Kinser improved his feature finish during each of the three World of Outlaws NOS Energy Drink Sprint Car Series races in California last week.

It began on a high note last Wednesday at Placerville Speedway in Placerville, where Kinser qualified fourth quickest, placed second in a heat race and ended third in the dash to line up on the inside of the second row for the 49er Gold Rush Classic presented by Riebes NAPA Auto Parts main event.

“We were off a little bit and got caught up in some bad spots to lose chunks of positions in a short time,” he said. “We were good early, but just faded. It wasn’t what we wanted, especially starting up front like we did.”

Kinser was credited with an 18th-place finish.

He returned to action on Friday at Stockton Dirt Track in Stockton during the NOS Energy Drink Showdown at Stockton, qualifying eighth quickest and placing fourth in a heat race before ending the night 13th in the A Main.

“We were a little inconsistent,” he said. “Once you get a halfway decent qualifying run you want to take advantage of it and not go backwards in a heat. We lost a spot there and then in the feature we were struggling on restarts.”

Kinser got stronger as Saturday night played out at Calistoga Speedway, which hosted the Wine Country Outlaw Showdown. He timed in 12th quickest and finished fifth in a heat race to line up 15th for the main event.

“I caught a lot of guys on the restarts and was able to pass a few cars,” he said. “My car was good enough to hang on the bottom that first lap after a restart. You had to move up once you got spread out and had to keep the momentum up. I tried to get what I could get on restarts and get back in line.”

Kinser maneuvered to a ninth-place result, which was his 22nd top 10 of the season. It also earned the Hard Charger Award for passing the most cars.

He now heads to Dodge City Raceway Park in Dodge City, Kan., for the Outlaw Boot Hill Showdown this Friday and Saturday. Kinser won a World of Outlaws race at the oval in 2012.

“It’s always nice getting to a place where you’ve had success,” he said. “We’ve seen that track quite a few different ways. We’ll see how the track it is when we get there, but we’re looking forward to a good weekend.”
