Podium finish in Bristol Dirt Nationals opener

Brandon Overton returned to the driver’s seat of the Wells Motorsports No. 76 Longhorn Chassis on Friday afternoon at Bristol Motor Speedway (Bristol, Tenn.) for the XR Super Series season opener. In a field of 37 cars, Brandon followed up the 10th-fastest time in his group with a third-place finish in his heat. With $50,000 on the line in the feature, Overton advanced forward nine spots in the 50-lapper to register a third-place finish. He followed Chris Madden and Dale McDowell across the line. After pulling off early in his heat race on Saturday due to a flat left-front tire, Overton posted a fourth-place finish in his B-Main, forcing him to rely in a provisional into the $50,000-to-win A-Main. Starting in 24th, Brandon passed nine cars in the 50-lap affair to finish 15th.
