Bittle and Eilers take home the WIN
At Belle Clair Speedway on Sunday night, The UMP Modifieds and B-mods were in action on a hot night for racing.
In the UMP Modified class, there were 14 cars racing. Heat race winners were Bobby Bittle and Zeb Moake. In the second heat race, only two cars finished the race. Three cars were eliminated coming to the start as they tangled in turn four and were done for that race.
The 20 lap feature started with Bittle and Moake on the front row. Bittle would take the lead with Brett Korves, Moake, Rusty Griffaw and Mike Harrison giving chase. Bittle would go to the top and hold off all challenges. First there was Korves and then Moake, but Harrison would be the last to try, but could not get a chance to past Bittle. Bittle, Harrison and Moake ran it a tight pack during the race as there was only a few cautions that slow the race.
Bittle would hold off Harrison for the win and his first since 2011 at Belle Clair Speedway. Harrison, Moake, Korves and Griffaw would complete the top five. In the B-Mod class, there were 10 cars racing. Heat race winners were Jimmy Cummins and Robbie Eilers.
The 15 lap feature started with Cummins and Eilers on the front row. Cummins would take command at the start of the race with Eilers, Mike Jones, Jerry Thompson and Nathan Schmitt in the chase mode.
This race would be a Cummins and Eilers battle as they went to the top of the track. Cummins would hold the lead for several laps before Eilers would take over the lead.
Eilers would get the win with Cummins, Jones, Schmitt and Rick Standridge rounding out the top five.
Next Friday night the 100 lap race for UMP Late Models will take place with the winner getting $2,000 plus a possible addition of $25.00 a lap for leading. That means someone has a chance to win $3,500. Also, on the card are UMP Modifieds, Pure Stocks and Mini Sprint.
