Belle-Clair Speedway
Griffaw takes the WIN
The racing finally returns at Belle Clair Speedway after Mother Nature has interrupted the action for weeks. In the UMP Modified class, there were 21 cars competing for a feature win. Heat race winners were Rick Standridge, Mike Harrison and Rusty Griffaw. The 20 lap feature started with Harrison and Griffaw on the front row and looking like it would be and entertaining race for hot fans. With the start of the race, Harrison would get the lead with Griffaw, Jordan Bauer, Brett Korves and Brendon Bittle giving chase.
The lead did not last long as Harrison spun out in turn one on the next lap. That gave the lead to Griffaw. Griffaw would go to the top and hold off any challenges from the field. Korves tried hard but could not overtake Griffaw as he ran the top as well. There was some passing taking place as Tyler Diebert would move from 12th to sixth and Bobby Bittle, who had problems in his heat race, move to seventh from starting in the last row. Griffaw would take the checkered flag for the first time in 2015. He would be trailed by Korves, Bauer, Zeb Moake and Standridge to complete the top five.
In the B Mod class, there were 23 cars available to race. Heat races went to Mike Jones, Mark Clary and Timmy Hancock. Nathan Schmitt would get his first feature win at Belle Clair Speedway in a B Mod over Clary, Ryan Eilers, Jimmy Cummins and Tim Hancock. Racing return Sunday July 26.
