Farmer dominates at Centerdega
(CENTERVILLE, AR) September 16, 2022 - Ross Farmer continued to dominate what may easily have become his new favorite track. Farmer picked up his second win in the last three trips to Centerville Super Speedway this past Friday, September 16th, this time in a brand new car and with a crate engine.
A solid field of #LocalLegends were on hand to battle it out on the wide sweeping turns that "Centerdega" or "Little Batesville" has become known for. Farmer topped the John R. Nelson Trucking & Excavating heat race while his grandson, 14 y/o Preston Farmer scored the win in the Eckie's DCR Parts & Accessories heat race.
The feature event would roll off with the pair on the front row, grandad on the pole and the youngster on the outside. Series point leader #16 Geoff Aitken had his Doug's Electrical Service/Mullins/Rocket XR1 alongside 2020 series points champion #007 Scotty Freeman and his Danny's Tire & Auto/BARE Racing Engines/Rocket XR1 were on row two. Quickly the elder Farmer took the point and the #32P fell into second then Aitken and Freeman fell in behind. Caution flew on lap two for a stalled #21 of Dale Hamilton on the back straight as he hopped a yuke tire and had gotten stuck in a pretty precarious spot.
Restarting Delaware double, out front it was Ross Farmer and his Farmer's Tree Service/Eagle Racing Products Crate/Rocket XR1 by Marlar, white Preston and Aitken were on row 2. The front four raced nose to tail with the occasional challenge to the inside until the #32P Glenwood Auto Parts/Odell Chase/Rocket XR1 of Preston Farmer slowed to bring out the second caution. An apparent overheating issue dropped him from second and sent him pit side. This put Aitken in prime position for a takeover on the ensuing restart. Showing his nose several times he was just unable to make the pass - the checkers would fly on the 20 lapper with the #26R of Ross Farmer taking his second win in three trips to Centerville, followed by #16 Aitken, and Freeman's #007 would round out the podium. Fourth and fifth went to Pottsville, Arkansas driver #38 Robert Myers, and the #16H of Wesley Hamilton from Malvern, respectively.
"The crate motor did really good on this track and the bigger spoiler helped a ton. Can't thank the Marlar's enough for this car - it came to us race ready and it sure is a good car. I enjoyed racing alongside my grandson and might have gave him a fender on the start," said Farmer.
Sixth through tenth went to #21 Dale Hamilton from Donaldson, #7W Wesley Wise of Perryville, eighth place went to #10 David Dunn of Russellville, #32P Preston Farmer of Glenwood, and #4Play Eddie Hoyer of Plummerville.
Next up for the series is Saturday, September 24th, and the re-scheduled "Battle of the Border" with the Sooner Late Model Series at Crawford County Speedway. The event will pay $1,000 to win and $325 to start with a $50 entry fee. It will be a rules vs. rules event, no mix or match and (100) bonus points will be given to all #LocalLegends who attend.
