RACE RECAP: 2022 Race No. 96: July 26, 2022 Cook Out Summer Shootout – Charlotte Motor Speedway

CONCORD, N.C. – A Monday rain-out set up double the racing on Tuesday with rounds eight and nine of the Cook Out Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway. A total of 14 feature races were held.

The 25-lap round eight Legends Young Lions Feature saw three different leaders on a chaotic final lap. George Phillips led into turn one, Carson Haislip took the lead off turn two. A caution reset the field for a one-lap finish with Joel Smith getting past Haislip to grab the win.

In the round nine Young Lions feature it was Sean McElearney with a dominant run until a caution with two laps remaining. Haislip ended up getting past on the restart in turn one to grab the win.

In the round eight Legends Pro feature it looked like a Jordan Black dominant win, until the final lap when a mechanical problem slowed his efforts allowing Landen Lewis past for the victory. Jensen Jorgensen returned to his winning ways picking up his fourth victory of the year in the round nine feature.

Carson Brown had a big night, sweeping both feature in the VP Racing Legends Semi Pro division while Mark Green and Scott Mosely were winners in the Legends Masters ranks.

Emma Britt made her first Summer Shootout start pay off well with a win in the first Bandolero Outlaw feature with Bobby Gossett Jr winning the nightcap. Other Bandolero winners were Darren Krantz Jr. and Ben Morabito in the Bandits and Wyatt Coffey and Jack Smith in Beginner Bandits.
