RACE RECAP: Race No. 91 – July 19, 2022 Cook Out Summer Shootout – Charlotte Motor Speedway

CONCORD, N.C. – Lucas Vera (Legends Semi Pro) and Joshua Dickens (Legend Young Lions) were two of seven winners Tuesday night at round seven of the Cook Out Summer Shootout at Charlotte Motor Speedway. It was the first win of the season for both young racers.

In the 25-lap VP Racing Semi Pro feature it was opening night winner Jadyen Daniels taking the lead at the start. A lap four restart allowed Vera to move inside the leader and to the top spot, a place he would not relinquish despite a few restarts in the second half of the race. Byron Daley finished second with Adres Perez third.

T.J. Decaire set the pace in the 25-lap Young Lions feature, leading the first 13 laps. A restarts on lap 13 allowed Carson Haislip to get past, but Decaire quickly moved back around and into the lead. Over the final laps Decaire was getting pressure from George Phillips, when in turn two of the final lap the cars got together and slid up the track.

Dickens dove to the inside and took the lead and raced to the victory. Haislip took second with Phillips hanging on for third.

Other Legends winners were Jensen Jorgenson getting his third straight Pro win and defending Champion Robbie Woodall getting his first Masters win of the season.

In Bandolero racing it was Kaeden Ballos becoming the first multi-race winner in the Outlaws division. Hudson Canipe won the Bandits feature with Jeffrey Beck scoring the Beginner Bandits victory.
