Iron-Man Late Model Series
Jameson “Wins One for Gullett” at Lawrenceburg Speedway with Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series Fueled by VP Racing Fuels and Ultimate Hear
LAWRENCEBURG, INDIANA (September 14, 2024)– The Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series Fueled by VP Racing Fuels would visit Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, IN for the only time in the 2024 season on Saturday evening and Jason Jameson of Lawrenceburg, IN would take the lead on lap twenty-three after starting in the tenth position and proceed to take the $5,000 victory. The victory was a very emotional one for Jameson, who dedicated the win to his best friend and late crew chief, Jeff Gullett, who passed away unexpectedly Tuesday morning earlier this week.
The win by the 39-year-old Jameson would be his first of the season with either series and his third career Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series victory and would come behind the wheel of the James Rattliff owned Longhorn Chassis powered by a Cornett Race Engine with sponsorship from JRR Motor Sales, MGL Auto Sales, Keltner Contracting, Grant Lee Farms, JRR Trucking, Antonio’s Pizza Pub, The Auto Outlet, and Budda Bert Transmissions.
Josh Rice would grab the lead at the start of the Valvoline A-Main event, with Adam Stricker, Robby Hensley, Ryan Missler, and Jason Jameson giving chase. Hensley would take second on lap two from Stricker, while Rod Conley would take fourth on lap three and bring Jameson back to fifth with him after Jameson had slipped to sixth. Jameson would take fourth from Conley on lap four, while Missler would grab fifth from Conley one circuit later. With Rice maintaining the lead, Jameson would continue his charge and take third from Hensley on lap six, as Stricker had went by Hensley for second one lap earlier. The first caution would wave on lap seven for debris in turn four and on the restart, Stricker would challenge Rice for the race lead and Stricker would lead lap seven, but Rice would reclaim the top spot one tour later on lap eight. Rusty Schlenk would make his way into the top five after getting by Missler on lap nine and would dig for more and take fourth from Hensley on lap eleven. Rice would continue to lead, while Jameson mounted a charge on Stricker for second and would take the spot on lap thirteen. Rice would enter heavy traffic on lap sixteen, with Jameson and Stricker closing in on Rice. Jameson would stalk Rice for a handful of laps before finally making his move and taking the race lead on lap twenty-three. Missler would slow on the frontchute and draw the next caution flag on lap twenty-six and during the caution, second place Rice would pull pitside and be done for the event. The restart would see fourth place David Webb spin in turn one to draw the third caution of the race. Jameson would continue to lead on the restart, while Kent Robinson would jump from fourth to second, only to lose second back to Stricker on lap twenty-seven. The caution would wave again on lap twenty-nine for Larry Martin, Jr.’s slowed machine on the backchute. Jameson would get a great restart and continue to lead, while Schlenk would grab second from Stricker, with Robinson fourth, and sixteenth place starting Kody Evans now fifth. Evans would charge the high side of the racing surface and take fourth from Robinson on lap thirty. Austin Lay would loop his machine in turn four on lap thirty-two to draw the final caution of the event. Jameson would again get a great restart, while fourth place Evans would make a two-spot pass and jump to second, with Schlenk, Devin Gilpin, and Stricker third through fifth. Jameson would extend his lead over the remaining distance of the event and would take the checkered flag first, with Evans, Schlenk, Gilpin, and Stricker completing the top five. The remainder of the top ten finishers would be Rod Conley, Kent Robinson, David Webb, Trevor Landrum, and Rob Anderzack.
The next event for the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series Fueled by VP Racing Fuels will be Saturday September 21 at Atomic Speedway in Waverly, OH, paying $5,000 to win and $500 to start.
