Iron-Man Late Model Series

Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series Fueled by VP Racing Fuels at Atomic Speedway Postponed to Saturday July 20

SOMERSET, KENTUCKY (June 28, 2024)- Officials with the Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series Fueled by VP Racing Fuels and officials with Atomic Speedway have agreed to make the tough decision to postpone the tour’s event scheduled at the track for Saturday June 29. The event has now been rescheduled for Saturday July 20.

With a weather forecast showing the possibility of early morning rain showers and more rain expected at various times throughout the day on Saturday, with some weather forecast models showing the possibility of heavy rains, series officials and Atomic Speedway track officials thought it would be in the best interest of the race teams and race fans to postpone the event to another date, with the event now set for Saturday July 20.

“With the probability of heavy afternoon rain and thunderstorms, some which are forecasted to be severe, combined with travel times for some of our full-time race teams which are in excess of six hours, we felt it best to postpone the event early enough so the racers and fans alike could make other plans for the weekend,” stated Chris Tilley, Series Promoter. “One thing we truly hate to do, especially with high diesel fuel costs is to take teams up and down the road with the high probability of rain. If we have the possibility to utilize a makeup date, we try to do that. We’ve spoken with Charlie (Vest) at Atomic Speedway and they use the Clarity (formerly BAM) Weather Service, which is used by Eldora Speedway, Major League Baseball along with NASCAR and they have high confidence in the possibility of rain during the afternoon and possible severe weather into the afternoon and early evening,” said Tilley.

The Valvoline American Late Model Iron-Man Series Fueled by VP Racing Fuels next events will be Wednesday July 3 and Thursday July 4 at Merritt Speedway in Lake City, MI, with both events paying $5,000 to win/$500 to start. The tour will then travel south to Brownstown Speedway in Brownstown, IN on Saturday July 6 for the 10th Annual Born Free 40 paying $5,000 to win/$500 to start and will conclude the weekend at Tri-State Speedway in Haubstadt, IN on Sunday July 7 in an event that will be co-sanctioned with the DIRTcar Summer Nationals that will also pay $5,000 to win/$500 to start.
