About SELLM
The South East Limited Late Model Series (SELLM) was founded by Ed Cox in 2008. The original intent was to only have one race with a limited late model division. That race was such a success plans began to create a series. The purpose of the SELLM was to implement a set of rules for the limited division that would become uniform for many local tracks. These rules not only made it easy for the drivers to travel to various tracks without much change but also make it more affordable for the drivers. Also to provide an opportunity for up and coming drivers a place to grow, get the experience needed traveling to various tracks and build their name like the late model traveling series offer. Like an All-Stars of Limited Late Model racers. It started with one division the Pros. The first race was held at Florence Motor Speedway in South Carolina. The second year another class was created the Challengers. After the first race the series began to grow and continues growing today.
We now have racers from over 20 states and several foreign countries competing. Many drivers that competed in the SELLM have moved up into the higher ranks of NASCAR. In 2016 there were 137 different drivers competing in the two divisions. In 2017 the addition of a new division, the Jr Elites for ages 11-15 will continue the growth of the series. This will be a big addition for the series and in the world of stock cars. We also added a full time marketing staff to insure that the series will grow properly through marketing partners, social media and promoting all drivers that come through the series.
