Tim Sears Jr. Cruises To Victory Lane On Chris Nichols' Snap-On Tools and Thompson & Johnson Equipment Night

FULTON, NY (July 29, 2024) - Saturday night, Fulton Speedway opened the gates to a large crowd of fans coming from all over to witness a night of racing action capped off with the 'World-Famous Boat Race'. In the end, current points leader and defending track champion Tim Sears Jr cruised to victory lane for the fourth time this season on Chris Nichols' Snap-On Tools and Thompson and Johnson Equipment Co. Night.

Other feature winners included Zach Sobotka (DIRTcar Sportsman Series), Brennan Fitzgibbons (Billy Whittaker Cars & Trux Hobby Stocks) and Cale Gareau (E & V Energy Novice Sportsman).

Bob Bennett and Willy Decker Jr. paced the Tracey Road Modified Field to the Comfort Windows firing point, bringing the field to green for the 35-lap feature event.

A three-wide battle for the lead on the opening laps would occur between Bennett, Decker Jr., and Brent Joy, with Bennett taking the early advantage.

Bennett's lead would be short lived as the first Milton CAT Caution flew on lap 2 for a car spun in turns 3 & 4. The field would regroup with Bennett and Joy leading the way.

As the green flag waved, Joy jumped out to the race lead with a three-wide battle for second unfolding behind him. The second caution of the night quickly waved again, this time for the 18$ of Sean Beardsley stopped in turn 3.

On the restart Joy once again drove away with the lead but Jordan Bennett began hunting down Joy and used the bottom to take over the lead on lap 7. His lead would be short-lived, however, as the third and final Milton CAT caution slowed the pace once again on lap 13.

Sears came from the fifteenth starting spot to restart second next to Bennett on the final restart of the evening. At the drop of the green a three-wide battle for the lead involving Sears Jr, Bennett, and Billy Dunn occurred, with Sears Jr taking advantage.

The multi-time and defending track champion would drive out to over a 3-second gap to secure the win over fourteenth starter Billy Dunn. Jordan Bennett followed in the third - his best run of the season - with seventh starter Marshall Hurd coming home in the fourth. David Marcuccilli completed the top 5.

The DIRTcar Sportsman Series invaded the high banks for their Central Region finale. Parish, New York driver Zach Sobotka led 23 laps to earn the win and Central Region title over second place Nicholas Root. Fourth Starter Jason Parkhurst Jr. rounded out the podium, with Kyle Devendorf following in fourth. Wade Chrisman completed the top 5.

Brennan Fitzgibbons picked up the Billy Whittaker Cars & Trux Hobby Stock feature win over second-place Ron Hawker. Adam Hunt followed in third, with Nathan Peckham and John Pietrowicz rounding out the top five.

Cale Gareau grabbed the E & V Energy Novice Sportsman feature win. Brian Harber, Sam Groom, Andrew Eaton, and Kingston Sprague occupied the remaining top 5 spots.

Nick Olek from Rochester took home a $1000 victory in the 'World-Famous Boat Race' outlasting 26 other competitors. Zak Petrie from Oswego took second with Pulaski's Max Lowery taking home third.
