Neivel Precision Plumbing Outlaw 200 Weekend Thursday Night Wins to Gareau, Easling, Williams, Marsden, and Powers

FULTON, NY (October 4, 2024) - Fulton Speedway’s prestigious Neivel Precision Plumbing Outlaw 200 Weekend kicked off with a set of five feature events on Thursday night presented by Smith Structures. In all 116 entries among four divisions piled into the pits, with five feature events held. Cale Gareau took the checkered in the Novice Sportsman event, while Willy Easling and Nate Powers nailed down victories in the Four Cylinder features. The big Mod Lite payday went home with Justin Williams, while Russ Marsden claimed the flag in the Hobby Stock main.

Austin Harmer spent the first half of the E&V Energy Novice Sportsman championship race comfortably out front, with Gareau in tow. As the laps clicked off, Gareau found a lane to his liking, running right around the infield tires, slowly reeling in Harmer. The yellow waved on lap 12, and with the gap closed up, Gareau got a chance to show what he learned. When racing resumed, Gareau slipped under Harmer to take the top spot, driving away in the final laps for his first Outlaw Weekend victory. Harmer held on for a strong second place run, with Logan Brown driving up to third at the finish.

A fun battle between Matt Kitts, Ray Hyer, Nate Powers, and Zak Petrie was fought at the front of the field in the early stages of the RL Cleaning Four Cylinder Open, but many eyes were focused a bit further back. After starting 22nd, Easling was carving through the field at rapid pace, cracking the top five on lap six. By lap ten, Easling had marched by them all, taking the top spot from Hyer. While the battle for second raged on, Easling was in a zip code of his own, stretching his lead to over seven seconds during a long run. At the checkered, it was Easling cruising to his first Fulton win, with Powers and Hyer completing the top three.

Zack Babcock had a handful of the Williams family in the IMCA STARS Mod Lite feature event, facing multiple challenges from Doug and Justin Williams. At halfway, Justin Williams finally got momentum built up around the top side of the surface, rolling by Babcock for the lead. While Babcock had to fend off Joe Isabell, Williams kept the car smooth and straight, running away for the feature win. Babcock crossed the line in second, with Isabell a close third.

Adam Hunt and Marsden ran door-to-door for the lead for many laps in a row to open the Billy Whittaker Cars & Trux Hobby Stock feature, with Marsden eventually getting the best of their battle. Hunt spent equal effort keeping up with Marsden while also holding off Nate Peckham, with the top two running low and Peckham high. On lap 17, Peckham snagged second, reeling in Marsden at a steady clip. However, Peckham’s run fell a few laps short of reaching Marsden, with Marsden claiming victory after 25 laps. Peckham finished in second, with Danny Kerrick getting past Hunt for third.

The evening’s closing event was a rained-out Four Cylinder feature originally scheduled to be contested on June 22nd. Nate Powers and Chris Bonoffski went at it for the duration of the 20-lap feature, with Powers out front and Bonoffski stalking his rear bumper. Bonoffski looked low, high, all around Powers, but Powers held steady. A late restart gave Bonoffski one final swing at it, but as the checkered fell, it was Powers scoring the close win. Bonoffski fell a car length short and brought it home second, while Rich Wagner claimed third.

Two more nights are on deck for Outlaw Weekend, culminating with the Outlaw 200 for the DIRTcar 358-Modifieds on Saturday night. For more information, visit www.fultonspeedway.com
