Trey Marcham Sweeps at I-44 Speedway
Trey Marcham’s night at I44 Riverside Speedway could be summed up with a broom in one hand and a steering wheel in the other, as he swept the stout competition for both the Non-Wing and A Class.
Josh Marcham, on the other hand, ended his night early when on the front row of a B feature, the pole sitter literally ran Josh’s car up the wall, destroying the carburetors, air box, front axle, and shocks. Trey Marcham was nothing short of determined to win both A features under heavy pressure in both races piloting his RD Marcham Energy, Pinnacle, Best Western Tulsa Airport, A&A Cycle, JB Graphics, Metric Cycles powered no. 32.
In both features, Trey used the inside to make progress getting to the front while the rest of the field was trying to get what was left on the top. Marcham was not to be denied in either feature, and at the end of 20 laps in each class, he not only grabbed the hardware, but the cash as well.
In the Non-Wing A main, Marcham worked the inside trying to pick off competitors one at a time. Although not an easy task, he was able grab the lead on the 17th circuit, and the hometown boy was in victory lane.
In the winged A Class event, Trey worked traffic like the master he is. Finally, after side by side battles with the leader, he grabbed the lead and went on to win his 3rd feature of this young season.
“Our car was on a rail tonight. My Dad and I felt that the track would be changing rapidly with the weather changes, and the track might glaze over later, so we set it up with what we thought no one else had. And, not only that, the Midgets being here between races and possibly laying down rubber in the turns, we had to find a way that would work,” said Marcham. “At the end of the night, I was grateful for the set up my Dad put underneath me, especially in the second feature, and I have to admit, I was glad to see the checker fall when it did. The track was tough and we worked the bottom groove all night long. These are the nights some people only dream of, and I’m glad this one came true,” added Trey.
Marcham hopes to duplicate his feat next week when the 600s return to I44, a place he likes to call home.
