Caleb Stelzig Captures 2022 POWRi NMMRA Season Championship

Belleville, IL. (11/9/2022) Showcasing premier open-wheel action throughout the desert region, the New Mexico Motor Racing Association would witness the rise of a fresh-faced speeding star with the crowning of Caleb Stelzig as the 2022 seasonal champion after an intense points-battle that waged in question until the final event.

“It is a total honor to be a champion in only our second season of sprint car racing, and I owe it all to my crew, Wayne and Ryan as well as our biggest supporters and sponsors,” said the celebratory Caleb Stelzig after gaining the series championship to deny the sophomore season slump.

Driving the Duke City Powdercoating & Sandblasting, RSCI General Contractors Fanelli Motorsports, JR Bonesteel Motorsports, DRC Chassis, Tony Boy Engine #21, Caleb Stelzig would test his driving merit in 2022 by gaining a league-leading eight victories on the year to push his career win count to ten while notching a placing inside the top-five in all but a pair of series starts this season.

“We are so blessed to have ten victories in our two short years, but we can always improve and learn more, I think our goals within the region are to minimize mistakes and hopefully clinch another championship,” added the talented Stelzig.

Perhaps no victory would mean more to the teenage talent like the final event of the season at Vado Speedway Park’s Zia Sprint Car Classic as Caleb Stelzig would recover from a previous night’s roll-over to not only win the final feature but clinch the yearly title in the process. Looking ahead Stelzig is planning on, “attending more national events while hoping to get more experience and exposure with car owners and sponsors”.

Securing the third seasonal sanctioned POWRi NMMRA Championship honors, Caleb Stelzig(Albuquerque, NM) would win the championship by a slim forty-two-point margin over Caleb Saiz(Albuquerque, NM) who placed second with Colt Treharn(Los Lunas, NM) maintaining pace ending the year only ninety-three-points back finishing third.

Caleb Stelzig, among other POWRi Champions, will be honored at the Annual POWRi Championship Banquet on Saturday, January 21 at Margaritaville Lake Resort in Osage Beach, Missouri.
