Inside Line Promotions – CARL JUNCTION, Mo. (May 20, 2014) – Andrew Felker will make his USAC Silver Crown Championship Series debut this Thursday during the famed Hoosier Hundred.
Felker will pilot a car for Rick King during the 100-lap feature at Indiana State Fairgrounds in Indianapolis.
“Last Monday he gave me a call,” he said. “I had talked to him a couple of weeks back and was joking around about me needing to get in one of his cars. He’s always been around the POWRi deal since I started and I’ve got to know him over the years through that.”
Felker said the goal is to be running at the end of the endurance race.
“His biggest goal is to get me comfortable,” he said. “We don’t want to go out there and tear up a car for lack of experience.”
Felker added that the initial fuel load will likely be the biggest adjustment for him compared to midget racing.
“It’s going to be a big change,” he said. “One hundred laps on a mile track, you’ll start with a ton of fuel behind you. I think the biggest thing will be getting comfortable early with the fuel load and then making adjustments.”
Felker will wrap up the weekend with RAB Racing at Angell Park Speedway in Sun Prairie, Wis., on Saturday and Sunday for the Thiel Memorial and World Championship with the POWRi Lucas Oil National Midget Series and Badger Midget Auto Racing Association.
“Angell Park is in the top three of my favorite tracks,” he said. “It’s going to be a fun experience with this team. They have a lot of experience there.”
Felker earned a pair of runner-up finishes, five top fives and eight top 10s in nine races at Angell Park Speedway last season.
“I definitely have high expectations,” he said. “We’ve always had success there and ran toward the front and RAB Racing won the Badger championship last year. I think we should finish top three to top five and be in contention for wins.”
