Schafer In Back-To- Back SCVR Wins

The Championship Chases ended in all five weekly divisions at the St. Croix Valley Raceway on Friday August 23. Cam Schafer of Glenwood made it back-to-back wins at SCVR on Season Championship night. Schafer went to the cushion on lap 2, took the lead from Mike Mueller on lap 3, and held off a late race charge from Johnny Parsons III to capture his fourth TSCS feature win of the season. Rob Caho, Jr. secured the SCVR track championship with a fourth place finish behind Kevin Bradwell and also clinched the 2013 Traditional Sprint Car Series Championship with an insurmountable point lead. For Caho, it was his second straight TSCS point title.

UMSS Traditional Sprint cars roared to green with pole-sitter Mike Mueller setting the early pace. Cam Schafer, who needed a win and lots of help to steal the championship from Rob Caho Jr. was doing everything he could by blasting to the point by lap three. Johnny Parsons III was chasing Schafer while Mueller, Caho, Katrina Sautbine, Kevin Bradwell and Jake Kouba were running multiple grooves in pursuit. Schafer was running strong up front while the rest of the field searched for speed – highlighted by the mid-pack three car battle between Brian VanMeveren, Sautbine and Kouba. A late caution erased a large lead that Schafer had built up, but back under green the reigning Open Wheel Nationals & Kouba Memorial champion stayed fast and smooth, winning his second feature in a row and third in the past four SCVR races. Parsons made it close in the end. Bradwell, Caho and VanMeveren completed the top five.
