Inside Line Promotions – LAWRENCEBURG, Ind. (June 1, 2017) – Shawn Dancer doubled this season’s top-10 total last weekend when he posted a pair of top 10s while competing in a busy three-race weekend.

The action began on Friday at Limaland Motorsports Park in Lima, Ohio, which hosted an NRA Sprint Invaders event.

“We went out pretty late for qualifying, but we cut a good lap and timed third,” he said. “In the heat race we started fourth and finished second, so that was a decent run.”

The No. 5 was drawn for Dancer in the A Main redraw and by the first corner of the race he was passing for the lead. Unfortunately, that didn’t last long as he lost some ground and dropped to the ninth position.

“Thankfully I was able to gain a couple spots and finish sixth in the A Main,” he said. “The driver made a decision that didn’t align with the crew and it was a mistake that cost us.”

Dancer qualified well again on Saturday at Waynesfield Raceway Park in Waynesfield, Ohio, during only the second time this year that the NRA Sprint Invaders has qualified instead of using a pill draw format.

“We qualified second and that started us fourth in the heat race,” he said. “The car needed to be tightened up a bit more, but I still finished third.”

Dancer started eighth in the A Main and fell back a couple positions before he worked his way up to third just as a caution came out. That sent him back to fifth place.

“The track started to take rubber and we finished fifth,” he said. “Overall, it was a good weekend for the 360. We’re definitely improving, but we still want a win.”

The fifth-place result was Dancer’s first top five of the season and his two top 10s on the weekend give him four this season.

The competition wrapped up on Monday at Lawrenceburg Speedway, where Dancer qualified 30th quickest during the World of Outlaws Craftsman Sprint Car Series event.

“Our qualifying effort basically messed up our whole night,” he said. “We had to start eighth in the heat race and only finished seventh as there wasn’t a whole lot of passing.”

That relegated him to start on the inside of the fifth row in the Last Chance Showdown. The team made some changes to the car prior to the race and Dancer gained a trio of positions to place sixth, which was only two spots shy of transferring into the main event.

“The car felt really good and there was more passing in the LCS,” he said. “We made it up to sixth, but just didn’t get good enough restarts after the cautions and couldn’t make anything of it.”
