Bailey Goldesberry – Crazy Eighths!
Bailey Goldesberry has a string of eighth place finishes going. Her last two outings saw two such finishes. At 34 Raceway in West Burlington, Iowa, she drove from 11th to eighth, before an 18th to eighth place fun at Quincy Raceways in Illinois. As the season winds down, Bailey will be running a handful of 305 events and 360 shows with the Sprint Invaders.
Bailey was encouraged by her runs that saw her moving forward in both features. “We’re starting to figure out our setups for the long run,” she says. “It seems like we’ve had things figured out for either the first half of the race, or the last half. We’re starting to put things together for the whole race now.”
At 34 on September 2, she finished sixth in her heat before starting in row six for the feature. “The track was dry and it was really hard to find any moisture,” Bailey says of her eighth-place run. The cushion was right up against the wall. We ran up top to pass cars, but mostly we were better on the bottom.”
After finishing fourth in her heat at Quincy the following night, Bailey started 18th in the main event. “The track was pretty rough that night,” she says. “There were a lot of yellows and reds. I was to the point where I was just about ready to get out of my car. It was taking too long to get things going.”
She stuck with and came forward to eighth. “It was a good run for us,” says Bailey. “We were able to get up through there. There wasn’t really a cone for the restarts, and everyone was just taking off when the leader was. We were able to take advantage of that a little bit.”
Bailey is excited to get back to the track. “I felt really good in the car,” she says. “I’m looking forward to getting back out there.”
