Inside Line Promotions – ROSSBURG, Ohio (Oct. 12, 2015) – Ryan Smith wrapped up his first year competing with the UNOH All Star Circuit of Champions last Saturday at Eldora Speedway, where he capped the season with a 15th-place result.

That secured a seventh-place finish in the championship standings for Smith, who ended the season tied for third in the victory column with three.

“For the most part we had a great year,” he said. “It was a great experience hitting new tracks and getting more experience. We had some close ones and a lot of top fives. I’d say to put a grade on the year it’d be an A-minus. I think we could have had a better Ohio Speedweek, but it’s a tough deal. Overall I’d say we had a good year.”

The All Star season finale began with Smith qualifying 15th quickest, which ranked fourth in his group. That put him on the pole of a heat race at the high-banked track.

“We were in position and the motor just stumbled a little on the start,” he said. “When it got going I spun the tires real bad. I was lined up with two slick track aces with Greg Wilson and Gary Taylor. I just didn’t get the start I needed to hold them off. Once I settled in I wasn’t too bad, but that’s a totally different style of racing there.”

Smith dropped to third on the opening lap and he finished in that position to miss a spot in the dash by only one spot. However, it locked him into the main event, which he started on the outside of the eighth row.

“In the feature I started near the back and got rolling pretty good in the middle of the race,” he said. “I was up to 11th or 12th at one point and we had a couple of late yellows. I couldn’t get going at the end and backed up a bit. However, we finished the year off with a top 15. It was about getting laps at that place.”

Smith is currently undecided about his racing plan for this weekend.
