FINDLAY, Ohio – Even with a new team, Cap Henry is transitioning seamlessly and making it known that he’s a threat to win any time he enters the pit area. Though mishaps have kept him from finishing two of his three contested events in October, Henry has put himself in position to win each of them. A radiator issue forced him out of Atomic Speedway’s “Freedom 40” with a podium finish in sight, and on Sunday, a flat tire at Millstream Speedway took another possible podium away from the Bellevue, Ohio native. October hasn’t been all bad to Henry, as his eighth-place finish in the All Star Circuit of Champions “UNOH Sprintacular” at Eldora Speedway on Saturday was the best result of his career at the world-renowned half-mile.

At Eldora, 42 All Star sprints graced the pit area, along with 56 BOSS wingless sprints and 28 NRA 360 winged sprints. Starting his night off as the quickest qualifier in the third of five groups with a scorching 13.117-second lap, Henry then started heat three from outside row two. Moving up quickly to second, Henry couldn’t get by the leader and the two pulled away from the rest of the field by nearly four seconds in eight laps. The second-place finish was enough to move the Coomer Motorsports No. 21 onto the dash, but Henry could only net one position.

From outside row four in the 30-lap nightcap, Henry began the race with a gradual slide backwards, and ran 11th by lap 10. However, he regained some steam and took back the eighth position before the race’s only red flag came on lap 19. After jockeying for position on the restart but falling to tenth, a final caution gave Henry one last shot to move himself forward. In the end, Henry crossed the finish line in eighth.

The following afternoon, an hour and a half drive northeast, Millstream Speedway hosted their “Trick or Treat 30” race. Though only 18 sprint cars were in attendance for the non-sanctioned race, the on-track action was heavy. In the second of two heat races, Henry raced into the lead from third on the grid and took the preliminary victory.

The heat win captured the pole position of the main event for Henry, who has started more races than not from the back half of the field this season. Not wanting to let the opportunity go to waste, Henry led the opening circuit of the 30-lapper. USAC Silver Crown standout Kody Swanson, who won that series’ season finale the night before, nabbed the lead on lap two. Falling back to third but still staying in contention, Henry battled to stay on the podium. Unfortunately, a flat tire soon after would bring about the end of Henry’s night, relegating him to 16th in the final running order.

Henry is next scheduled to compete on October 16 at Lawrenceburg Speedway in Lawrenceburg, Ind. with the World of Outlaws and on October 18 at Path Valley Speedway Park in Spring Run, Pa. in Coomer Motorsports No. 21 410ci winged sprint entry.
