WISSOTA 100: Huge purse, thousands in bonus money

HURON, SD - The most popular bonus programs of the Speedway Motors WISSOTA 100 return this year when the Greatest Show On Dirt returns to Dakota State Fair Speedway September 13-16, 2017 (Wednesday through Saturday).

Two Sweep Bonuses

There are two Sweep Bonuses in effect again in 2017. Each is also worth another $1,000 for any driver who completes a sweep during the WISSOTA 100.

The first Sweep Bonus is available to any driver who wins his/her division’s first heat race, the same night’s qualifying feature and feature event.

The second Sweep Bonus is worth another $1,000 to any driver who can win the same three races (heat, qualifying feature and feature) but also win his/her division’s Thursday or Friday night AFCO Race Of Champions event.

Added up, that’s thousands of extra reasons for every WISSOTA driver to attend this year’s Speedway Motors WISSOTA 100, the crown jewel and richest event event for more than 2,500 drivers in the upper Midwest.

Orv’s Pot Of Gold

In addition to all of the purse money and bonuses, there is also $10,000 up for grabs to one lucky driver through the Orv’s Pot Of Gold promotion.

In 2012, South Dakota Super Stock and Midwest Mod driver Lorin Johnson picked up an extra $10,000 while at the 100 and in 2013, Mod Four driver Jim Erdmann of North Dakota pocketed the extra $10,000 from Chenoweth and the Pot Of Gold sponsors. In 2014, Super Stock racer Curt Myers of Cameron, WI nabbed the $10,000 Pot Of Gold and a year later the 10 grand pot went to Midwest Mod driver Shawn Reed of Casper, WY.

In 2016, Kevin “Buzzy” Adams nabbed the Pot Of Gold after being a WISSOTA 100 competitor every year that the show has been in Huron.

All drivers who are in the top 30 in the national standings prior to the WISSOTA 100 are eligible to win Orv’s $10,000 Pot Of Gold. Each driver must also register daily while racing at the 100, and a final night drawing will narrow the field to 30 possible winners on Saturday. The 30 eligible drivers - five from each class - will then come to the grandstands on Saturday night and the $10,000 winner will be drawn live, just a few feet from the massive, excited crowd.

This incredibly popular bonus provides the thrill of a racing career.

If you have not raced the WISSOTA 100 in the past, you owe it to yourself and your team to do it this year. It’s a tradition-filled event held in a great location at the perfect time of year.
