HURON, SD (September 16) - Twenty-two of the 23 Mod Fours in attendance made the call for the Saturday night finale at the Speedway Motors WISSOTA 100 at Dakota State Fair Speedway. Two drivers who had already scored wins the night before sat on the front row; Tyler Larson and Mitch Hribar shared row one with Jerry Esler.

At the end of the 20-lap contest, the winner was Tyler Larson.

Championship Feature

Larson slid up in front of Hribar to take the initial lead and, running the bottom of the track, set the pace. Hribar and Larson opened up a sizeable lead while Esler was under attack from Jamie Flickinger and Josh Jensen until Jensen broke and went to the infield.

Flickinger secured third just before Tom Manning’s #54 got airborne at the end of the front chute. It slammed into the catch fence before it came back to rest wheels-down right at the end of the concrete. Officials rushed to the scene but Manning climbed out on his own and waved to the crowd. It took some time to repair and reinforce the fence area.

Tyler Larson had the point for the Delaware-style restart. Clint Jensen and Jamie Flickinger were in row two followed by Esler and Trever Roediger. Hribar was sent to the tail for going to the infield work area during the red flag.

Flickinger shot up and challenged Larson once the field went back to the green. Those two built a lead on Roediger as Dean Larson roared up to pass Clint Jensen for fourth with five laps complete. Esler was sixth followed by Prieve, Hribar and Robert Holtquist.

Tyler Larson continued to show the way and stretched his lead on Flickinger, who had close competition from Roediger. Dean Larson was not able to close the gap until Roediger pulled under Flickinger and they started running side by side. Roediger then took over second. Hribar got past Esler and was knocking on Clint Jensen for fifth with nine laps left, but he suddenly dropped from the action down the back chute a lap later.

Larson had a half straight lead with eight laps remaining when Dean Larson dashed past Flickinger for third. Tyler Larson looked in complete control as he smoothly guided his #7L way out front. Adam Prieve retired with five laps to go.

Roediger, Dean Larson, Flickinger and Clint Jensen continued in the top five. Esler ran sixth followed by Robert Holtquist and Dustin Holtquist.

The laps ticked away and no one had a chance to catch Tyler Larson. He lapped several cars and had a huge lead at the checkered flag. Roediger, Dean Larson, Clint Jensen and Esler rounded out the top five. Flickinger led the next group of five to the line in sixth, with Robert Holtquist, Dustin Holtquist, Forrest Foster and Steve Schicketanz seventh through 10th.
