Familiar Face Returning to the Modified Division at Lebanon I-44 Speedway

The 2019 silly-season continues at Lebanon I-44 Speedway. Several new drivers are in the process of building cars while other current drivers are scheming-up their plans for the 2019 season. One of those drivers is 2018 Pro Late Model competitor, Brian Brown.
Brian Brown, a Lebanon native who now resides in Stafford, has raced around the high-banks of Lebanon I-44 Speedway since the early 90s. Brian’s racing career actually started with a paint brush. One of Brian’s friends was racing at Lebanon I-44 Speedway in the Bomber division and was looking to have his car lettered. Brian painted the numbers on his car in exchange for one hot-lap session. After Brian’s first laps on the track he knew it was something that he wanted to pursue. 27 years later and Brown is still competing. Throughout his lengthy career, Brian has competed and won in every class that Lebanon I-44 Speedway has offered, excluding the old Late Model Stock division. Brown has two Street Stock Championships to his name as well as one Modified Championship and most recently a Pro Late Model Championship that he claimed in 2016.
Brian has decided that for 2019 he is going to park the Pro Late Model and go Modified racing. “My program in the late model was pretty good, but we still needed a little more, so I was looking for a change of pace and decided I wanted to go modified racing,” stated Brown. Brian has raced a Modified in six different seasons at Lebanon I-44 Speedway, 1996-1999 and 2009-2010, so the class in nothing new for him but the competition is all new. For the past two seasons we have seen the No. 7 of Ricky Icenhower pick up the Modified Championship as well as winning every race but one in 2018. Brown, as well as other drivers like Jimmy Fohn, Aaron Douglas, and Cole Williams, will be looking to add to the excitement in the Modified division and try their hand at defeating the reigning Champion. “I have always got along with Ricky and he has always raced me clean with no problems,” added Brian. Brown says that the Modified and Late Model have way more differences than similarities when it comes to handling, “The mods are kind of skaty on the race track. I like everything about them, fun to drive, fun to work on, they’re just a nice challenge for a race car driver. I always said I wanted to get back to a mod before I was done. It is kind of a passion I have I guess.”

March 30th will also be the first race of the new Ozark Asphalt Late Model Series where the Pro Late Models will be running a special 100-lap feature event!
