McCowan Racing Rolls into East Bay Raceway Park

Dillon McCowan Racing changed venues on Tuesday with their first-ever trip to the legendary East Bay Raceway Park (Gibsonton, Fla.). The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) event drew 75 entries, and Dillon qualified 26th fastest in his group before registering a seventh-place finish in his heat race.

Relegated to a B-Main he faded to a ninth-place finish, ending his outing early.

He ended the night with qualifying for Monday night's make-up program, and enjoyed a fast start with the fourth-fastest time in his qualifying group to earn a front-row starting spot for his heat race after Wednesday's program. Unfortunately he slid back to a sixth-place finish in the heat, which relegated him to a B-Main. Finishing fourth in the B-Main, his night ended early.

For Wednesday's regularly scheduled program, Dillon finished seventh in his heat race and fourth in the B-Main.

Thursday and Friday's program found Dillon once again falling short of qualifying for the finales at the tricky, 1/3-mile oval.

Dillon finally found some luck in Saturday's $15,000-to-win finale. He charged from eighth-to-third in his heat race to qualifying to earn the 14th-starting spot for the 50-lap main event. While mechanical woes sidelined him early in the feature to a 25th-place finish, it was still a great confidence boost for the team to wrap up Speedweeks.
