Driver Information

At the age of 5, Will stood up at his kindergarten graduation ceremony and told everyone that he wanted to be a racecar driver when he grows up. He has always enjoyed watching races & playing with his die cast cars. His dream would be to follow the path of his favorite NASCAR drivers Dale Earnhardt Jr & Chase Elliot. Both drivers have inspired him to chase his racing dream. At the age of 9, Will attend the Annual Sportsman show with his family. Once he sat in a Microd race car, that was when we all knew he was ready to start chasing his racing dream. The 2014 spring Will began to drive a micro racecar. He finished the season with 3 wins & 2nd in points. It was the end of summer going into fall and Will wanted to still race and wanted more speed. We started looking into quarter midget (QM) cars for the next season & then bought one. We took Will to watch them race and show him what he will be racing next season. We meet the president of the club and next thing we know we were able to start Will the next week as they still had 2 months left in their season. He was able to complete his rookie training & race as a rookie for the remainder of the season.
2015-2019, Will raced (QM) race cars every Friday & Sunday between 2 local tracks. As he progressed over the years, we added a 2nd & then a 3rd car so he could race different classes. He raced in the USAC.25 Northeastern regional events each season gaining experience racing tracks in PA, NJ, and Conn. He raced at a USAC.25 National Event at the Pocono Speedway. This was great experience & was able to run against kids from all over the east coast. He ran a few indoor races over his QM years & even a few times on dirt. This gave him a variety of experience and growth as a driver. Once he tried dirt racing, we knew that was the path he wanted to go into. He loved the sliding in the corners. Over the 2019 season, Will would practice his 600 Micro Sprint to be ready to make the transition for the 2020 season. Will went from racing quarter midgets on pavement to racing his 600 on dirt. He found that he really enjoyed this change. He gained his nick name “The Thrill" as he was always a pleasure to watch, & he knew just how to avoid a wreck in front of him. The younger ones looked up to him as he was known for his great sportsmanship on and off the track. Over these 5 years he has well over a hundred heat & features wins combined, 12 Championships and many Sportsmanship & Driver of the Year awards.
The 2020 race season had a late start due to the pandemic, but Will was ready to start his new journey of racing on dirt in a 600 Micro Sprint at Paradise Speedway in Geneva, NY every Saturday. He races against mostly drivers who are much older and experienced. He did extremely well for the first season. Completing the season with a few Heat wins & 8 top 5 feature finishes. This season he learned a lot on handling of his race car & as a driver. Even when he made a mistake, he would be the first to own up to it & if needed apologize to the other drivers.
2021 started out a little rough but ended pretty good at Paradise Speedway. It was a new season and a new car for Will. He had the opportunity to run in the Winged & Wingless classes. By mid-summer, he had figured out his RTS chassis & became very comfortable. It showed each week as he improved. Then it happened, He got his first feature win in the Winged class. His hard work & dedication were paying off. On 9/11, Will raced in honor of all that lost their lives 20 yrs ago on 9/11. Will won both heats (winged & wingless) & won both feature races of the night. Another first in the books for the season. Will closed out the points season taking home the Wingless Track Champion & 2 Heat wins and 1 Feature win & finished 3rd in points for the Wingless class with 2 Heat wins & 3 Feature wins. He was not ready to end the racing season just yet. The team made the trip to Thunder Mountain Speedway to have Will run the NY6A 600 Sprint Tour race. He had a great time & did pretty good for first time running there. He finished 5th in the feature. Our next trip was to Lime Rock Speedway, where Will ran the Wingless class for 2 weeks. 1st week He finished 4th in Heat & 6th in feature. The 2nd week 4th in Heat and Feature Will was holding on to 6th place going into last corner before the checkers was spun leaving him to finish in 9th. He enjoys the challenge of learning a new tracks & the opportunity to better himself as a driver.
Will has made the decision for the 2022 season he doesn't want to be tied down to one track running for points. He wants the opportunity to travel to various tracks throughout NY & PA to continue to run winged and/or wingless. His goal is to continue to learn and grow as a driver with the challenge of running tracks he hasn't raced before. One of his main focuses will be running the NY6A 600 Tour (Winged). The NY6A tour travels to different tracks throughout NY mostly with a few in PA.
