Three Races in Three Nights for Tyler Stevens at Batesville
In what could be considered a home game, Tyler Stevens made the short trek to Batesville Motor Speedway (Locust Grove, Arkansas) over the weekend to compete in three nights of IMCA Modified action during the 28th annual COMP Cams Topless 100.
Thirty-two Modifieds entered the opening night of the tripleheader on Thursday, and via prelim action Stevens locked into the 14th-starting spot for the night’s 25-lap finale. Against a talent-laden field, Stevens clawed his way forward to register a third-place finish behind Jeff Taylor and Ashton Wilkey.
Friday night’s program found Tyler racing into the finale via the B-Main. After starting deep in the feature grid, Stevens was sidelined during the race’s middle stages by a mechanical failure.
Hoping for better luck on Saturday evening, the night started on a faster note with a runner-up performance in his heat race, which transferred him to the $1,500-to-win finale. In the feature, Stevens was battling for the lead when mechanical gremlins bit him once again, causing him to slow. He retired pitside as his weekend came to a disappointing end.
