Consistent motor issues end Winger's Florida Speedweeks
Ashton Winger continued on his Florida Speedweeks slate on Monday afternoon at Volusia Speedway Park (Barberville, Fla.) for the 50th annual DIRTcar Nationals. In a field of 51 cars, Winger fell short of a transfer position in his heat with a fifth place finish, sending him into the B-Main. On Tuesday afternoon, Ashton ran into motor issues in his heat that saw him scratch from his B-Main.
After replacing his power plant overnight, Winger failed to transfer out of his heat race and B-Main on Wednesday, forcing him to rely on a provisional into the $10,000-to-win A-Main. Improving two spots in the 40-lap affair, Ashton logged a 27th-place outing.
He experienced more motor issues during his qualifying session on Thursday that brought a disappointing end to his Speedweeks.
