Ashton Winger finishes second in Will McGary Tribute at I-30
On Friday night, Ashton Winger followed the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) to Old No. 1 Speedway (Harrisburg, Ark.) for the Cow Patty 50. In a field of 26 cars, Winger laid down the fifth fastest time in his qualifying group before placing third in his heat race. Starting the $5,000-to-win A-Main in ninth, Ashton jumped up three spots in the 40-lapper to finish sixth. (Jennifer Newkirk-Heath photo)
On Saturday afternoon, Ashton was one of 28 Late Models on hand at I-30 Speedway (Little Rock, Ark.) for the fifth annual Will McGary Memorial. Passing two cars in his heat race to place second behind B.J. Robinson, Winger locked into the fifth-starting position for the feature. With $5,000 on the line, Ashton took part in a heated battled for the lead with Logan Martin late in the 40-lap affair but fell short to place second, trailing Martin to the checkers with Kyle Beard, Morgan Bagley, and B.J. Robinson rounding out the Top-5.
