Ashton Winger visits Batesville for Comp Cams doubleheader
Friday night saw Ashton Winger return with the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) at Batesville Motor Speedway (Batesville, Ark.) for the Joe Garrison Memorial. Drawing 29 Late Models, Ashton laid down the fastest time in his group before picking up an eight-lap heat race victory. After setting the pace out front for the first 14 circuits, Winger suffered a flat tire on lap 14 that dropped him to the tail. He salvaged a 17th-place outing in the 30-lap affair. For the Bad Boy 98 on Saturday, Winger recorded a third-place finish in his heat, which positioned him ninth on the starting grid for the $12,000-to-win main event. Getting caught in a multi-car tangle, Ashton was an early retiree from the 68-lapper on lap 34.
Ashton sits in third in the CCSDS point standings.
