Pair of Top-5 finishes with DIRTcar Summer Nationals

Rejoining the DIRTcar Summer Nationals after a mid-summer break, Ashton Winger trekked to Highland Speedway (Highland, Ill.) on Friday afternoon for the event rescheduled from July 10. With 29 Late Models entered, Winger edged his way into opening night feature with the fifth-and-final transfer spot. With a recent rain shower making for rough track conditions, Ashton plowed forward 10 spots in the 50-lapper to register a fifth-place finish. He followed Brandon Sheppard, Bobby Pierce, Tanner English, and Garrett Alberson across the line.

On Saturday afternoon at Federated Raceway at I-55 (Pevely, Mo.), Ashton timed in fastest in his 17-car group before placing second in his heat. Starting the $10,000-to-win A-Main in fifth, Winger jumped up two spots to finish third. He took the checkers behind Bobby Pierce and Brandon Sheppard with Shannon Babb and Gordy Gundaker rounding out the Top-5

Ashton remains in third in the latest Summer Nationals point standings.
