Winger Rallies to Ninth Place Finish in Drydene Double Down Opener
Back behind the wheel of the Franklin Enterprises No. 12 Late Model, Ashton Winger made the trek to Jackson Motorplex (Jackson, Mn.) on Friday evening returning with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series for the Drydene Double Down Invitational. In a field of 26 cars, Winger secured his spot into the $6,000-to-win opening night feature with a fourth place finish in his heat. After contact with another competitor early in the race sent him to the tail, Winger charged up to a ninth place finish in the remaining distance.
For the second round of the Drydene Double Down Invitational on Saturday, Ashton followed up the fastest lap in his time trial group with a second place finish in his heat behind Justin Zeitner. With $20,000 on the line in the feature, Winger ran in the Top-10 the majority of the race until a caution on lap 41 dropped him back to 15th.
Ashton is currently in ninth in the latest World of Outlaws point standings.
