Pair of Top 5 finishes on World of Outlaws northern swing

Continuing on the northern stint with the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series, Ashton Winger visited Gondik Law Speedway (Superior, Wis.) on Tuesday afternoon competing in a field of 29 cars. Gaining three spots in his heat race to place third, Winger locked into the 10th-starting position for the main event. After Friday night’s program was postponed to Sunday by Mother Nature, Ashton traveled to Red River Valley Speedway (West Fargo, N.D.) on Saturday evening for the $10,000 prize. Following the fourth fastest time in his group, Winger notched a runner-up finish in his heat behind Darrell Lanigan. Rolling off sixth for the A-Main, Ashton jumped up one spot in the 50-lapper to place fifth behind Darrell Lanigan, Brandon Sheppard, Ricky Weiss, and Chase Junghans.

The following night at River Cities Speedway (Grand Forks, N.D.), Winger posted a third place finish in his heat, which positioned him seventh on the starting grid for the $10,000-to-win finale. Falling three spots in the 50-lap affair, Ashton recorded a 10th place outing.

Ashton remains in eighth in the latest World of Outlaws point standings.
