Top 10 finish in World of Outlaws stop at Beaver Dam Raceway

On Tuesday afternoon Ashton Winger followed the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series to Beaver Dam Raceway (Beaver Dam, Wis.) to kick off a week in the Badger State. In a field of 31 cars, Winger top the speed charts in time trials but fell one spot shy of a transfer position in his heat with a fifth place finish. Picking up a 10-lap consolation victory, Ashton earned the 17th-starting position for the $10,000-to-win A-Main. Breaking into the Top-10, Winger charged forward nine spots to register an eighth place finish.

After a scheduled off-day on Wednesday, Ashton headed to Cedar Lake Speedway (New Richmond, Wis.) on Thursday for the 33rd annual USA Nationals weekend. Following an 11th place finish in his heat race, Winger logged an 11th place outing in his B-Main, forcing him to rely on a provisional into the preliminary feature. With $6,000 on the line, Ashton passed 13 cars in the 30-lapper to register a 12th place outing.

On Friday afternoon for a pair of heat races, Winger held his spot for all 12-laps of his first heat to finish third. Passing four cars in his second heat to place third, Ashton was seventh overall in passing points, locking him into the Pole Dash. Running into trouble early, Winger was an early retiree from the 100-lapper on the eighth lap with a broken rear-end.

Ashton sits in eighth in the latest World of Outlaws point standings.
