Winger scores fourth place finish at Eriez Speedway
Following the World of Outlaws Morton Buildings Late Model Series on an eastern swing, Ashton Winger made the trek to Lincoln Speedway (Abbottstown, Pa.) on Thursday evening for the Billy Vacek and Huey Wilcoxon Memorial. Drawing 38 cars, Winger locked his spot into the redraw with a second place finish in his heat behind Brandon Sheppard. Receiving the fifth-starting position for the $12,000-to-win A-Main, Ashton dropped one spot in the 50-lapper to register a sixth place finish. (Rick Neff photo | DirtTrackDigest.com)
On Friday evening at Williams Grove Speedway (Mechanicsburg, Pa.), Ashton followed up the sixth fastest time in his qualifying group with a third place finish in his heat. With $10,000 on the line in the feature, Winger marched forward six spots to place sixth.
The following night at Eriez Speedway (Eerie, Pa.), Winger edged his way into the $10,000-to-win finale with the fourth and final transfer spot in his heat race. Wheeling his way into the Top-5, Ashton passed 11 cars in the 50-lapper to place fourth behind Dennis Erb Jr., Boom Briggs, and Brandon Sheppard with Alex Ferree coming in fifth.
Ashton climbed to seventh in the latest World of Outlaws point standings.
