Top 5 Finish in Grassy Smith Memorial at Cherokee Speedway
On Friday night Chris Ferguson visited Cherokee Speedway (Gaffney, S.C.) piloting his K&K Trucking No. 10 Late Model honoring his late-friend Dylan King who passed away a year ago. Drawing 37 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series (LOLMDS) entries for the 22nd annual Grassy Smith Memorial, Ferguson laid down the fastest time in his qualifying group before picking up a 10-lap heat race victory. Earning the second-starting position for the $12,000-to-win A-Main, Chris dropped three spots in the 50-lap affair to register a fifth place finish behind Ross Bailes, Brandon Sheppard, Jimmy Owens, and Brandon Overton. The following night at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) for the Mountain Moonshine Classic, Ferguson slipped back to an eighth place finish in his heat, transferring him into the B-Main. Needing a third place finish or better to make the $15,000-to-win A-Main, Chris fell short with a ninth place outing.
