Lauren Butler
Salem Speedway Top 5
Salem Speedway in Salem Indiania is a very impressive 0.555 mile 33 degree banked race track according to Lauren Butler who walked the track Friday afternoon along with her crew chief. It will definitly be a challange.
After the first round of practice the car lacked speed so the crew went to work and changed the gear and tweaked the setup on the car. Then we found a leak in the cooling system so that had to be addressed. By the time repairs were done Lauren only had time to run about 5 laps in the last practice session.
Lauren went out and qualified 7th with a time of 19.467.
She ran the first 50 lap race with a conservative run and finishing in the 5th position. More changes were made for the 2nd 50 lap race including changeing of the right side tires. Following the redraw and landing on the front row she elected to start in the 4th position.
Lauren achieved her second fifth place finish of the night and moves to third in the overall standings, ahead of Potter and Bill Ashton with little room for error going into her first start at Ohio’s Midvale Speedway in two weeks.
