Lauren Butler
Southern National Motorsports Park
Southern National Motorsports Park was a learning experience for driver Lauren Butler. After unloading Friday night and running some laps to familiarize herself with the 17 degree banked track the Edlin Motorsports Impala SS developed fuel pressure issues. Thanks to fellow competitor, John Kennedy, who had a spare pump with him we were able to repair the car. After the pump was replaced the track owners allowed Lauren some additional time to shake the car down.
On Saturday we arrived at the track early just too double check the car and to go over little things just to be sure. After two rounds of practice the car seemed ok but lacked some speed, turning around 18.40 lap times. So the crew went to work and did some adjustments for qualifying. Lauren was out 4th for qualifying her first lap was 17.8 2nd lap 17.6 and the 3rd was 17.2 which got her 3rd starting position. After the redraw she started 5th in the first race and finished 6th. In the 2nd race she redrew the pole and finished 5th.
This is an excerpt from the Super Cup Stock Car Series page by Arron Creed. "Series rookie Lauren Butler turned in her best showing; qualifying her No. 53 Edlin Automotive Services / Cornwell Tools / 3C Signs / Night & Day Sealcoating / Pink Zebra / Roof Repair Experts / Motive Parts of Homestead Chevrolet within the redraw and ending the evening with her second career fifth place result." Lauren Butler’s next race will be at Jennerstown Speedway in the #53 Street Stock on May 25, 2019 followed by the Pittsburgh Circle Track Club car show at Kennywood Park on May 26, 2019 with the #53 Super Cup car, then off to Shenandoah Speedway on June 1, 2019 for the Veterans Classic Twin 50's.
