Kenny Captures $3,000-to-Win Darren Ernst Memorial at Longdale Speedway

Inside Line Promotions – LONGDALE, Okla. (Oct. 2, 2017) – Brandon Kenny claimed the largest prize awarded by Longdale Speedway this year by winning the 60-lap Darren Ernst Memorial race for sport mods on Saturday night. The Woodward driver took home a check for $3,000 for his efforts.
Kenny’s triumphant run came from the sixth-place starting spot, which he earned after charging from ninth to second in Friday’s qualifying feature.
Cole Traugott, also of Woodward, chased Kenny to the checkered flag and finished second. Traugott started ninth after winning one of the night’s two B Mains.
Dustin Robinson of Post, Texas, finished third followed by Joe Adams of Drummond and Kaleb Roach of Woodward. Mark Harrison of Kingfisher, Daylon Bergeron of Woodward, Jeffrey Kaup of Woodward, Hunter McDonald of Oakwood and Matt Beasley of Davis rounded out the top 10, respectively.
Jimmie Wright of Piedmont advanced the most positions as he charged from last in the 24-car field to finish 13th. Harrison was victorious in the other B Main.
In Friday’s preliminary racing action, Kyle Westover of Blair won the A Main followed by Kenny, Mike Roach of Woodward and McDonald. Kenny and Kaleb Roach of Woodward won B Mains while Harrison, Traugott, Westover and Troy Bynum of Enid captured heat races. The heat race winners and the top four in Friday’s A Main earned the first eight starting spots in Saturday’s main event.
Hesston Shaw dominated the racing action in the pure stocks as he swept the features on Friday and Saturday. The Hennessey driver’s wins came from the fifth starting spot on Friday and from 10th on Saturday. Tyler Scruggs of Hennessey chased Shaw to the checkered flag on each night with Jerry Derr of Enid placing third on Friday and Lance Sessions of Longdale ending third on Saturday.
Longdale Speedway will host its final event of the year – the Iron Man Winter Nationals, which is the Top Gun championship for IMCA modifieds, IMCA stock cars, IMCA sport mods and pure stocks – on Oct. 13-14.

LONGDALE SPEEDWAY –
Longdale Speedway is a semi-banked, 3/8-mile clay oval located in Longdale, Okla. Longdale features a gravel pit area off of the backstretch with a concrete viewing area.
