Ramirez finishes third in Cajun Clash opener at Ark-La-Tex
Thursday night found Dereck Ramirez in action at Ark-La-Tex Speedway (Vivian, La.) for the tripleheader event with the United States Modified Touring Series (USMTS).
Drawing 59 cars for the 10th annual Cajun Clash opener, Ramirez followed up the third-fastest lap in his time trial group with a fourth-to-first showing in his heat. Advancing forward two positions in the 30-lap feature, Dereck raced to a third-place finish, which came behind Cade Dillard and Jim Chisholm.
On Friday, Dereck’s third-place finish in his heat race locked him into the sixth-starting position for the feature. With $5,000 on the line, Ramirez carried a steady pace in the 40-lapper to finish sixth.
With a fourth-place finish in his B-Main on Saturday pinning him on the 10th row for $10,000-to-win Cajun Clash finale, Ramirez recorded a 20th-place outing on a track that saw limited passing.
