Johnny Scott roars to second-place finish in 2024 lid-lifter at Vado
Both Johnny and Stormy Scott kicked off their 2024 campaign on Saturday close to home with a short trip to Vado Speedway Park (Vado, N.M.) for the 18th annual Rio Grande Waste Services Wild West Shootout.
With Johnny in the Modified and Stormy in the Super Late Model ranks, Johnny raced into the $2,000-to-win opener with a 10th-to-4th run in his heat while Stormy scored a second-place outing in his heat race. Johnny again moved forward in the feature, reeling in a second-place finish from the third row. He chased Cade Dillard to the checkers with Terry Phillips rounding out the podium. Stormy lost six positions in the 40-lap opener to finish 14th in his debut aboard a Category 5 Race Car.
The weekend drew to an early end for Stormy on Sunday after scratching from his consolation race. Johnny started the feature in 23rd via a fourth-place finish in his B-Main and went onto place 19th.
