Mitchell competes with Comp Cams over Labor Day weekend

After losing the first two events of the Labor Day weekend to Mother Nature, Jon Mitchell returned with the Comp Cams Super Dirt Series (CCSDS) on Saturday evening at Jackson Motor Speedway (Byram, Miss.) for the Labor Day Classic. In a field of 28 cars, Mitchell edged his way into the opening night feature with the fourth and final transfer spot in his heat race. Rolling off 16th, Jon was an early retiree from the 40-lap affair on lap 17.

The following night at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Miss.) for another $3,000-to-win A-Main, Jon came one spot short of a transfer position in his heat with a fifth place finish, sending him into the B-Main. Scoring a runner-up finish behind Rick Rickman, Mitchell locked into the 18th-starting position for the feature. Running into more bad luck, Jon withdrew from the 40-lapper on lap 31.
