Theiss Wraps Up 2017 at Gateway Dirt Nationals

Austin Theiss made the trek to The Dome at America’s Center (St. Louis, Missouri) on Thursday night kicking off the second annual VP Racing Fuels Gateway Dirt Nationals. Splitting the stout field of 94 Super Late Models into two separate groups, Theiss recorded the fifth fastest time positioning him on the front row of his heat race on Friday night.

Sending the Top 4 into the $5,000-to-win preliminary feature, Theiss slipped back to an 11th place outing transferring him into the B-Main. Needing to place in the Top 2 to make the show, Austin logged a 9th place finish. (K.C. Shaw photo)

Returning on Saturday night for one final shot at the $30,000-to-win main event with a B-Main appearance, Austin gained two spots in the 12-lapper but fell short of a transfer position with an 8th place outing.
