Sherman started racing motorcycles in 1964. Twenty years later he switched to cars, racing in the Junkyard Dog class at Gus Carney's Fastrack in El Paso. Since then he has raced in all divisions of stock cars, Super Trucks, Modifieds, Xmods, and Late Models. Look for the Shermanator in Xmod, A Mod, and Supertruck divisions at Vado Speedway Park in 2019.

Career Highlights
Sherman has won hundreds of races in multiple divisions spanning his 50+ year career, from dirt bikes to Late Models. He has claimed several points championships and even won several 50/50 raffles at tracks all through the Southwest. When asked, Sherman's most memorable moment in auto racing was winning the A feature at Tularosa Raceway in the Limited Late Model class then driving 100 miles to Southern New Mexico Speedway the same night (which was on a 5 hour rain delay) and winning the A feature there as well.
