Duel in the Desert brings Taylor to Las Vegas Dirt Track

Embarking on the 25th annual Duel in the Desert, Jeff Taylor traveled to Las Vegas Dirt Track (Las Vegas, Nev.) on Thursday afternoon to kick off the three-day event aboard his Shaw Race Cars No. 5 IMCA Modified.

With a massive field of 102 Modifieds in the pit area, Taylor followed up a sixth-place outing with an impressive ninth-to-third run in his B-Main. Gaining five spots in Thursday’s preliminary feature, Jeff crossed the line in 17th.

For another round of prelims on Friday, Taylor outran Gavyn Manning in his heat to pick up the seven-lap victory. With track conditions making for a one-lane track, Jeff pulled off early in the 25-lapper after getting stuck on the high side on an early restart.

With preliminary results relegating him into a B-Main on Saturday for one final shot at the $5,000-to-win Duel in the Desert A-Main, Taylor fell short of a transferring into the finale with a seventh-place outing.

Jeff will return to action next weekend at the newly reopened Central Arizona Raceway (Casa Grande, Ariz.) for The Showdown at Central Arizona Raceway presented by Ed Whitehead’s Tire Pros.
