Will Roland fifth in Hall of Fame 40 at Lake Cumberland

After a few weeks off from racing action, Will Roland returned to the driver's seat of his No. 22 Capital Race Car for the Mountain Moonshine Classic at Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) with the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series.

With 44 Late Models in the pit area, Will qualified fourth-quickest in his qualifying group but fell back in the first $5,000-to-win preliminary feature to finish 18th.

Being buried in a heat race, Roland made the decision to skip the second day of action at Smoky Mountain and head to Lake Cumberland Speedway (Burnside, Ky.) for the Valvoline Iron-Man-sanctioned Hall of Fame 40.

Following the ninth-quickest lap in qualifying, Will recorded a runner-up outing his heat race. Rolling off sixth in the $7,500-to-win main event, Roland gained one spot to finish inside the Top-5 in fifth.
