Inside Line Promotions – OHSWEKEN, Ontario, Canada (Sept. 17, 2019) – Mechanical woes and challenging track conditions led to a disappointing weekend for Alex Hill during the Canadian Sprint Car Nationals at Ohsweken Speedway.

“Things certainly didn’t go our way either night,” she said. “It was disappointing, especially since it’s a race at our home track that we had looked forward to. But that’s the way racing can be. You just have to put it behind you and move forward.”

Friday night began with mechanical problems for Hill, plaguing the team the entire evening and allowing her little track time.

“We couldn’t get heat in the motor because the quick line for the fuel line kept disconnecting,” she said. “We got it going for hot laps, but I only got about one lap in before it disconnected again. We got it fixed for the heat race, but then we had problems with the fuel pump and decided to park it for the night.”

Heavy rains following Friday night’s program presented a challenging and unique racing surface for Hill on Saturday.

“The track was really different on Saturday,” she said. “We went out later in qualifying, which I felt hurt us quite a bit.”

A poor start in her heat race led to a seventh-place finish after starting fifth.

“I didn’t get a good start,” she said. “The guy in front of me didn’t take off. Then I was pretty much stuck where I was. The bottom was the only line to run and it was hard to pass.”

An 11th-place finish in the C Main ended her evening.

“We missed the setup a bit and dropped back a little bit,” she said. “It kind of followed the way our whole weekend went.”

Hill is looking forward to putting the weekend behind her and moving on to a major event on the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour schedule – the Jesse Hockett/Daniel McMillin Memorial at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, Mo., this Thursday through Saturday.

“I enjoy racing at Lucas Oil Speedway,” she said. “I wish we could race there more often. This is a big race with a lot of strong competition. We haven’t been able to make the Saturday night A Main before so that will be our goal this year.”
