Inside Line Promotions – SIX NATIONS, Ontario, Canada (Nov. 13, 2019) – Alex Hill enjoyed a season of marked improvement in her second full year on the Lucas Oil ASCS National Tour.
“We had a really good season,” she said. “It definitely had more high points than our previous year.
“Unfortunately, we weren’t able to finish the year as strong as we thought we would. We had a lot of bad luck the last couple of months, especially with our draws. But for the most part we had a successful season.”
The 19-year-old achieved her primary goal of qualifying for more A Mains in 2019. She took the green flag in 24 ASCS main events this season, nearly doubling her total from 2018.
“I felt I improved a lot as a driver this year,” said Hill, who finished 11th in the ASCS National Tour championship standings – an improvement of two positions from 2018. “I think the main reason was that I had a lot more confidence this year due to having a full year of experience traveling with ASCS. My increase in confidence helped to make me more aggressive on the track than before.
“Our 2018 season was kind of tough. But I was able to put the difficult times from then behind me and use that experience to help me this year.”
Hill is grateful for a quality crew that prepared a solid ride for her at each stop on the tour as well as others who made her racing possible.
“I really appreciate all the hard work from my crew,” she said. “My crew chief, Daryl (Turford), is the best. This year, his dad – Peter – joined us full-time on the road when Ronnie Monture couldn’t be with us all of the time. They’re all great guys.
“Of course, I’m especially thankful for my mom and dad, who make it possible for me to live my dream of traveling around the country racing. And I appreciate all the help we get from our great sponsors.”
Hill anticipates following a similar racing schedule next year.
“As of now we plan to run the ASCS National Tour again,” she said. “We’re waiting for the schedule to come out before we make any definite plans. I think our first race next year will be at East Bay in February.”
